I don't like biology....

You know how good it feels to wake up before you have to and then realize that you still have 2 more hours to sleep? Yeah, I did that today. Then I woke up at 7:30 (The alarm was set for 8:00) and I was completely refreshed. It feels so good to actually get enough sleep. So, I headed off to my biology class (completely alert, for once) and guess what happened... I FELL ASLEEP IN CLASS!!! I swear, Bio 100 is the freakin most boring class I have ever taken. I thought that I was just not getting enough sleep, but no... it's just a horribly boring class. I've got a test this week, though, so we'll see how that goes...

I made dinner last night out of Sarah's ward cook book. It seems like every recipe I stole from that ward cook book is so good. and easy. This one is called, "gourmet chicken" (kindof not really gourmet... I mean, anything that has cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup in it can't really be classified as gourmet...and this has both) But it is super tasty, and once again, super easy. Eat it on top of rice.Gourmet%20Chicken.doc

So I've really got to read some crap for biology... my favorite class. It's always the one that I put off b/c I really am bored by it...

devotional

So the devotional today (BYU has a weekly devotional at 11 on tuesdays... there are no classes and virtually all of campus is shut down at that time) Anyway, the devotional today was the dedication of the newest building on campus- the Joseph Fielding Smith building. It was awesome... The Prophet, President Faust, President Monson, and some of the 12 came. President Hinckley spoke, but it wasn't even what he said that was so awesome. The entire Mariot Center was full (it holds something like 27000 people... or is it 2700... I always get those two mixed up) It seriously looked like all of these people were piled up on top of eachother and that the whole tower of them was going to topple over at any minute. We (Me, Frik, & Sarah) got there sabout an hour and a half early (so we could get seats), so I was sitting there, doing my homework and talking. (mostly talking). But at about 10:55 or so I was reading and then everyone in the marriot center stood up and the prelude music changed to, "we thank thee oh God for a prophet". People always say that as soon as the prophet walks in the room you just feel the spirit so strong, and honestly, I never felt that until today. I was so glad I went just because sitting there for the 5 minutes before the devotional was worth it. It was so peaceful and all the little old men looked so cute.

I know that not all of you believe in the same things I do, so I'm not posting this to try to persuade you to believe, but I also know that some of you do believe the same things I do. I guess I just wanted to share.

Oh, something funny happened at the bakery yesterday--something that has never happened before... well maybe a long time ago, but not in the past 5 years. We were making brownies and when you make a large batch and want half of it to have walnuts in it, you scoop the first half out, then add the walnuts and mix them in... simple, right? Well anyway, we had finished the first half and Sarah added in the walnuts and started it mixing and there was this huge bang noise. So, she stopped it and we looked at the beater (fyi: it's like a giant kitchen aid mixer and by giant I mean about 5 feet tall). Everything looked fine so she started it again. There was this huge crack and the paddle started sinking into the brownie batter. It had snapped at the neck where it attaches to the mixer...

So we were pretty much screwed for the rest of the day. We stirred the walnuts into the batter with a huge spoon and then left a note for the night crew (who are a bunch of dummies)

Anyway, I've got some HW to do... I just felt like telling you that little story... heh...

Moving to Utah.... (not me. I already live here)

so I finally have a free minute to post... but only a minute, so this will be short.... I was so proud of myself for not missing any classes so far this semester, but then this morning... I slept through my 8:00. I was really bummed. Not b/c I like it, but because I was on a roll. Man. Oh well. This is the end of the busiest week ever, so I'll be doing better and getting more sleep from now on.

My mom called the other day and told me that My brother might be moving to Provo. I think that'd be cool. because then he can marry annette. heheheheh... and it'd be cool if he worked at the same place frik does. Frik said that with his schooling and certification and stuff, he could almost guaranteed get a job there. cool... he's gonna check when the next hiring cycle is, though. But send me or him your resume, k? and we'll print it off and he can take it in.

They've got good benefits, too.

And we can find you an apartment.

k, what else.... umm.... you'd think that I'd have something to say... huh. Guess I'll go do my biology...

FRIKS BIRTHDAY IS TODAY

So I went to Target with Sarah yesterday, looking for some good gifts for Frik (since today is his birthday...) We ended up spending 2 hours there. I think we were moving in slow motion b/c it really didn't feel like even half that long. we ended up getting some random, stuff, too. We found some hair dye that was only $2 and on an impulse, Sarah bought some. (those of you who know Sarah know that she never does anything with her hair on impulse... it was amazing) Not only was it amazing that she wanted to dye her hair, but she wanted to dye it dark brown. Actually, she wanted to dye it red but I talked her out of it b/c that would just be a disaster. Anyway, we came home and dyed her hair and it looks so good. It's very dark, but it looks pretty. It took me a while to get used to seeing her with dark hair, but it looks really good.

Then I went to work today and made 3 batches of brownies. Do you know how many brownies that is??? It's 90 sheets, the sheets are double sized, so 180 pans full. Cut up into 60 per pan, that's 10800... that's a lot of brownies.... Then Frik's mom took us out to lunch for his birthday. Happy Birthday Frik!!!

Anyway, I've got a few readings to do for biology...... fun times....

wacky professors and laundry

I saw the cutest thing the other day while I was walking to class. I was right next to a street that runs past one of the buildings (since most of campus is not along the edge of a street, I thought I'd clarify that for you all) Anyway, I saw this professor coming towards me with this big goofy grin on his face and he was looking all around. He looked really dorky and I was like... what a psycho. Then he started running and still smiling that huge dopey grin. That's when I heard a little tiny voice coming from the car that was about to pass him: "Bye Daddy! I love you!" And he started waving and they drove away. It was seriously so dang cute. :o)

Anyway... I did my laundry today. I went over to LaGrande... weird... but I did... and I put in all 3 loads (which were completely full since it's been about 2 weeks since I did any laundry and even the last time I did laundry I didn't do it all...) It kindof sucked b/c I had to pay for it, but it was nice b/c I got it all done a lot quicker. Then I went upstairs to Sarah's apartment and studied. Really, I did. I read a chapter and a half of science stuff!

Work is getting so busy. We have the Fall Fest coming up, and catering ordered 75 sheets of brownies and 500 dozen assorted cookies. (FYI: 1 sheet of brownies = 160 brownies.) Yah, it's sick. On top of that, we have all the regular orders and some dumb concessions people decided to start selling the brownies at football games, but they don't want us to use pan liners (which is retarded) and they don't want them cut, so they're probably cutting them up all tiny and selling them for $4 each.

Anyway, enough bakery talk. I'm so excited that my laundry is done! Hooray!!!

barbecue (or is it barbeque??)

Yesterday I invited some friends over for dinner. I said that 6:30 would be a good time (since I had to work until then) But I ended up working an extra hour and not getting here until 7:30... I felt bad and the potroast smelled so good when I got home... and I was hungry... but I think it was a success. We watched "Brother Bear" which is one of those Disney movies that looks stupid but turns out to be pretty good. Also in that category: The Emperor's New Grove (A guy turns in to a llama??? How dumb does that sound?) and The Kid....

Then today, Frik & I went to his mom's house for a barbecue. Kindof a strange thing, actually. See, she called a few days ago to tell us that she was having this barbecue for labor day, and Frik was either not paying any attention of still sleeping b/c he thought that it was going to be around 5:00, when really it was at noon. So, we missed the entire family and didn't bring the dessert that we were supposed to. But it was ok, b/c Shauna and I made some little tart things... they were good, but messy. For some dumb reason, We didn't put crust all around the edges, just on the bottom, so you kindof had to eat them all in one bite, but they were freaking good.

Oh, and when we were buying ingredients, we ran around the store jumping up in the air and clicking our heels together. Frik thought it was cool... either that or he kept trying to act like he wasn't with us... whichever. I can't remember. :o)

but yeah, I was in some kind of wacky mood. Then we went to walmart and got some of the $5.50 movies from the crate. one was fat man & little boy. Anyone seen it? I remember watching it in 7th grade in science... I think it was good. (it's about the Manhattan Project and the 2 atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki) Then we got some random meg ryan movie that I hope doesn't suck completely. It's got the same producer as You've Got Mail and the same director as Jerry Maguire, so hopefully.....

I had the creepiest nightmare last night... it was one of those dreams that feels totally real and when you wake up you can't remember what was a dream... but it was so sad and I woke up crying (even though it made no sense at all) And for a while it was good... like it was about boys and stuff... until I realized (In my dream) That I was already married and that I had completely abandoned my husband and I just felt so bad and sad and... I was so happy when I woke up and Frik was lying there next to me. heh... and I felt kindof dumb b/c I was telling him how happy I was that I ended up with him and that I was so sorry that I was mean and left... well I think I stopped myself before I told him about leaving... but anyway. Nighmare b/c it made me cry.

So anyway, I've got an 8:00 tomorrow morning and it's almost 1:45... so I'm gonna go to bed. I was just up reading and I thought I'd post. :o)

Honors classes and Jared the Subway guy

So I have a lab at 8:00 am on friday mornings. I knew it'd be tough to wake up for, but I figured that I'll be done with classes before 10 and the rest of the day is free (except work at 1) So I struggled out of bed this morning when my alarm went off and climbed up the 101 stairs to campus (106 if you count a tiny little staircase between the Smith Field House and the RB). I was pretty tired by the time I got all the way up there. I went to my class room building only to find a sign on the door: "No labs this week"....

Just so you know, I've got 2 classes with labs and one of them did have lab this week so I thought both would. I was very disappointed, but it was good b/c I got to go home and sleep. Sleep is always bettter when you don't expect to be able to have it, but then you get it... and you don't feel guilty about sleeping through class or anything.

Oh, and yesterday, after work, Sarah and I had this bright idea to eat in the cafeteria (since we get half price meals on days we work). While we were eating, we decided to make it a weekly event. Might as well eat there... Well, by the time we had walked about half of the way back to my apartment, we decide to nix that idea and then hurried the rest of the way home and to my bathroom.... There's a reason you stop eating at the on campus cafeterias.

So I went to the airport to pick up my mom. My sister is hopefully being picked up by my brother right now... hopefully.... Then we went to Rafaels in Sandy. They've got really good nachos, and the tacos are also tasty. I usually get a chalupa, though.

I'm trying not to get behind in my classes and I actually think that they are all pretty interesting. I'm excited. I dropped my Geography class, though, because I realized it was an Honors geography class.... I hate honors classes. Everyone there thinks they're smarter than the rest of campus. Well guess what??? WE ALL GOT IN TO THE SAME BYU!!! You don't have to pass any special tests to join the honors program. You don't even have to be smarter. Really, if you think about it... it's much dumber to take honors classes. As long as you pay attention and do your readings, you can learn the same stuff. even if it means not writing 2 extra papers a week and having a 500 point project on the climate of Kenya and how it affects the general population compared and contrasted to Saudi Arabia... And no curve. The world is the world and you don't need an honors stamp on your degree.... The way I figure it, Id' rather have a 3.5 and no honors classes than a 3.0 with the special recognition of being an "honors student".

Anyway, that's what I think about that. Did you all realize that Jared the Subway guy is real and he really lost about 250 lbs by eating subway 2x a day and waliking for 30 min. a day? It's true. Be more active, people. Don't get heart disease and don't let your kids sit around watching tv or playing video games all day.

That's it for now. Seeya later....
