Charms

I got some new charms on ebay, and they came today (well, yesterday, since mail doesn't come on Sundays...) They are so cute! I was really excited when my mom found my charm bracelet, and now I've got 4 more charms. I have: A piano, a video camera, a fortune cookie (Erik proposed to me in a fortune cookie), and a sand dollar (b/c we went to the beach in CA and found tons of sanddollars, and I think they're cool). Besides that, i've got the 3 that I've had forever (an airplane, a little Salt Lake Temple, and a little heart that says, "big sis").

So I had Lorna & company and meryl over for dinner tonight. It was fun. I'm not sure what prompted it... Just thought it'd be fun to have the family over for dinner... but I think it was fun. We watched the Majestic and I fell asleep, I really like that movie, though... I think Jim Carrey did a really good job of not being Ace Ventura, and it's got a fun (if not predictable) plot.

Anyway... that was my sunday. How was everyone else's weekends?

Fish and Crash Test Dummies

K, so Amy got me a tank at the free fish stuff guy's house. It's a nice one... about 2 gallons, hexagonal shaped. So I put my betta in there and split up the guppies, two in each of the 1 gallon tanks. (of course, benson and stabler are together, and munch and fin are in the other) I even set up the bubbles in both of the guppies tanks, since they need their water circulated more. It looks nice, but the bulb in Munch & Fin's tank is burnt out, so I need to get that replaced, even though I don't have any plants or anything, I just think it looks prettier.

I've been listening to Crash Test Dummies lately... like for the past few days. I haven't heard them for a long time... since probably my freshman year. I always think it's funny how many of their songs I know just because David used to listen to their CD's all the time. They're good. I like the style of their music, and also the lyrics because they are so weird. I've been making Frik listen to them, too, and I don't think he's quite sure whether or not he likes them. He laughs once in a while (I think he especially likes the Superman song)

You know Solomon Grundy isn't just a bad guy in comic books? there's a poem about him:

Solomon Grundy,

Born on a Monday,

Christened on Tuesday,

Married on Wednesday,

Took ill on Thursday,

Worse on Friday,

Died on Saturday,

Buried on Sunday.

This is the end

Of Solomon Grundy.

I don't like it. Some old nursery rhymes are so creepy. Why would you tell that to a kid? yuk...

Anyway, I'm going to go sleep. I've been staying up way to late for no good reason.

Boring....

Just a quick update...

For everyone who was waiting on the anonymous comment.... it was my mom. (If you haven't figured it out already). Not that it matters, or that it is interesting at all...

Um... not a whole lot is going on right now... I have a test to take today... I need to do laundry... That's about it. I guess I'll write more when my life gets more interesting. :o)

New post

I was going to post earlier but I was all mad b/c the internet wasn't working and I had to submit a quiz online and there was a time limit and I went over the timelimit... when I really took the quiz in under the time limit... so I was so mad that I decided not to post. But now that I've cooled down, I'm gonna update.

Sukie came down here with one of her betta forum friends today and we went over to this guy's house who was selling all of his tanks and fish b/c their moving. (when I say all of his tanks and fish, I don't think there is any way for you to fully understand how many tanks and fish that really is... he had a whole room full of tanks in his basement... and apparently he had already sold some.) It was pretty cool. The house smelled kindof swampy, and I would never want that many fish in my basement, but hooray for people who do. :o)

So anyway, I bought 2 guppies from him. They are so stinking cute. They're tiny and they swim around in their little one gallon tank like it's the size of an olympic swimming pool. I need to get a plant for the tank... probably a fake one. :o) I'm not in to the whole actually having a fish thing yet. I need to get some more fish food too, for guppies, not bettas... and I think I'm going to get one more friend for them. A really pretty one. We'll see what I can find.

We ended up staying at the fish guy's house forever... maybe 2 hours? I don't know. But Sukie and her friend were getting all loaded up. I think the friend was mostly taking free stuff... snails and plants and filters he didnt' want.... But I don't know how much Sukie ended up spending. :o) What did you get 2 tanks, a bunch of shrimp, a stand, and some fishes? Once I got my guppies, I tried to stay out of the way as much as I could b/c there were so many people in there.

And then I came home and made banana muffins, called David, and he came over and ate some of them. They were so good... and they're little too, so you have to eat about 30 of them in order to get the same amount as you would in one piece of banana bread...

Anyway... I found my long lost keys today. That made me happy. :o) And now I'm gonna go to bed.

Out of Town

Well, we went down to a bed and breakfast in Spring City for valentine's day and our 6 month anniversary. It was fun. The bed and breakfast was nice... the decorations were a little cheesy, but the owner (Phyllis) was so cute and there was a huge jacuzzi bathtub... it was really fun and relaxing for a two day vacation. (It's a little picture, but this is what the tub looks like and this is the bed. There was a microwave in the room and we watched some movies, ate popcorn, and had a really relaxing few days. We toured spring city (which is tiny) and that was fun... ate at "casey's cafe"... hehe...

Anyway, It was so nice that Erik and I decided 2 things: 1. we wnat a tub like that (not that shape, maybe, but that size and with the jets....) and 2. We should take a little retreat like that more often... well, not more often, since it's only been 6 months since our last one (honeymoon), but about that often... on our anniversary, and on valentines day. (that is, of course, if funding allows...)

Well, that's where I've been for the past 2 days. I've got a test, a quiz, and a paper to get ready for... Back to real life now. :o)

Good Mood

In spite of my aching body and the fact that I have to get up in about 4 and a half hours... no, it's more like 4 hours now... I'm in a very good mood. There are a few reasons: 1. I just got an 89.8% on my physical science test, 2. I just got a letter from Sarah (yippee!!) 3. Sukie is doing my taxes, and 4. I just got back from teaching Shawna some stuff about piano playing (kindof a mini lesson from someone who hasn't had extensive piano training). For some reason, it was very fulfilling to teach something that I know to someone who doesn't know it. Probably a good indicator that I'm choosing the right profession. :o)

Broken Body

Well, my eyes and my jaw are broken... That's how it feels, anyway. I got a piece of plastic to put in my mouth at night time. It's supposed to stop me from clenching. It works ok, but for some reason, I've been especially stressed lately, and I've been clenching even when it's in my mouth. So, I've got a follow up appt with the dentist in a week, and I'll have to let him know. Besides that, my mouth hurts... I don't know why. I'm thinking I need to get my wisdom teeth out. My dentist back home always told me they were too far back and we didn't need to worry babout them yet. Well, my dentist over here said that they were embedded under nerves and stuff, and that it'd take a real oral surgeon to get them out. Yay... hopefully that'll be partially if not mostly covered by insurance. I've got a sore in the back left top of my mouth that makes it painful to open and close my mouth. I've looked in the mirror at it, and I'm still not sure what it is, but it's definitely tender and painful. So, I think I'm gonna call the dentist tomorrow (it's been there 2 days already) if it's still bad. If not, I'll wait until next week.

The other broken part of my body is my eyes. My right eye started getting all fuzzy... ew. well, my vision in my right eye started getting all fuzzy sometime in the end of november. That happens once in a while to me, if I'm getting a cold or something, so I decided to wait a while and see what happened. Well, it got worse... so I went in to the eye doctor and he looked at my eyes and said they are dryer than he has ever seen them. Which is dry, because my eyes have been dry for my whole life (well, since I was 13ish. I had little plugs put in the drainage holes in my eyes when I was in middle school) So he had me on these drops that are supposed to start your eyes producing tears more. You need to take them morning and night, which was hard for me to remember, and I slacked off... well now they're so dry that I've got abrasions on my corneas, which is making the cornea swell, and changing my prescription. So I can't see that well out of my right eye, which is the dryer one, but my left eye is ok. It's gotten to the point where I don't really feel safe driving anymore. I've got an appointment with him in a week, too... but I might have to call in before then b/c ever since I started taking the drops steadily, My eyes have been so dry that I almost can't open them when I wake up in the morning. It's horrible. I have to pry them open until I can get an eyedrop in, and then they'll move around. I hope they don't shrivel up in my head.

I've been using this night time ointment for eyeballs. It's got oil and petroleum jelly type stuff. It's very thick and goopy, but I don't think it's helping all that much. Maybe I won't use it tonight, and see if that's what's making them so dry. That doesn't make sense, though... but we'll see.

Anyway, enough of my ranting about my broken old body...

Apartment

Ok, so a thought came to me the other day (because our garbage disposal broke). Who fixes stuff when you have a house? Do you just have to know how to fix all that stuff? I mean, we just called the Apartment management. The guy is a handyman, so they just came over and in 15 seconds it was fixed... (Our "1 teaspoon" had gotten stuck in the gears... oops) So, if we had a house, what would we do? If we called someone, they would want us to pay them $50 for taking the one teaspoon handle out of the motor, but it's not anything I would have known how to fix...

MTC

We took Sarah to the MTC today, along with her Grandma and her friend Jessica. It was fine up until she started walking out the door and I couldn't go with her. Then when I got home, I realized that she had forgotten something, and I couldn't even call her to tell her. Yeah, I was sad...

But a kindof funny story about the MTC... well, not about it but about its name. I was talking to a few friends about it (not LDS) when I was in HS, and they were so confused, and I didn't get why they were confused at all... until they were like, "why is it empty?"... they thought I was saying "empty sea" and so even the first time they asked that I was like, "oh, it stands for Missionary training center"... yeah... it was like a bad abbot and costello parody.

So, we had a little goodbye party for Sarah yesterday. It was fun. a bunch of her friends came and we listened to music and ate some snacks, and then we left so she could get set apart. She's leaving in about 3 weeks for an MTC in spain, then she'll go to Bilbao in another 6 weeks or so.

I keep getting excited when I make a new friend in class or something, and I get all these dumb ideas about them coming over all the time, and then I realize that Sarah is the only friend who ever came over all the time...

Oh well, it'll only be 18 months, and I'll write to her.

Well... time to go to Smiths....
